In this newly published book from the Freestyle Academy: ‘Freestyle and Dressage Riding’ the link is made in two ways between training a horse from the ground according to the Freestyle system and on the other hand training a horse under saddle dressage.

Part 1 explains the difference between dressage riding and dressage riding. Based on the principle that we must train the horse to be able to carry a rider responsibly, this book takes you through all the riding techniques that are interesting and necessary for everyone. It starts with a description of all terms that we encounter in driving and what those terms actually stand for. Why, for example, does a horse have to be in position while riding? And how do you get that done? Have you ever heard of lateral flexion and what can you do with it in practice? This book gives you an answer to all riding technical questions. The book is written on the basis of: WHAT, HOW and WHY.

The book gives you a guide to exercises you can use while riding and ends with a clear explanation of the most important side aisles.

In part 2 (the same book) you will be taken into the experience of the horse. What are the consequences of natural behavior, how do you deal with it? While riding, the horse’s body must function differently than in nature. You can even say: EVERYTHING MUST DIFFERENT. This is explained in detail in this part of the book. How does the horse’s learning ability function and how does the Freestyle training system work? In addition to all the answers to these questions, you will also get a comprehensive insight into the Freestyle system in the chapters: UNLOADING, GROUNDWORK and DOUBLE LINES.

This 200-page book has been carefully compiled by Emiel Voest and his wife Chaja Kolthoff-Voest. The book is richly provided with full-color photos and drawings to support the text. Silke Boersma is responsible for the design of the book.
